BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (23-10, 16-5 OCAA) employed an end-to-end approach to their OCAA Round of 16 playoff contest against Loyalist, and delivered the goods in a 67-52 triumph.

"I'm so incredibly proud of this group; they faced a lot of adversity leading up to the game this week but they were able to come together and execute at both ends," head coach Sean Douglas said. "We got some big-time offensive performances from players that were asked to step into roles they may have been unfamiliar with. All in all we're glad that we could make it to the big dance next week, but that's only the first part of our goal. We need to stay the course and build on this momentum in the quarter-final."

The Bruins forced 25 turnovers and scored nearly one third of their points (21) off the change of possession. Every Loyalist player that saw game action turned the ball over at least once, and the five starters all had a minimum of three. Sheridan also took advantage on the glass, with their 16 offensive boards leading to 16 second chance points, while they limited the Lancers to just two offensive boards. 

Ashley McDonald scored a game-high 15 points, while Theresa Brown (14), and Liana Rose Villegas (11) were also in double figures for the Double Blue. 

Sheridan advances to the OCAA Championship hosted by St. Lawrence next weekend and will draw a quarter-final matchup against Niagara, who upset George Brown, 74-59.
