LANGLEY, B.C. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (31-9, 20-5 CCAA) is on to the national semifinal, after defeating Montmorency 105-83 in the CCAA quarter-final. 

"We played with great energy for the whole game. I wish, at times, we took better advantage of the opportunities that we had, but overall our effort was there," assistant coach Nick Davis said. "Our pressure was good, our pace was good, we were playing our style of basketball, and even though we had a couple of times when we almost gave it to back them, we did a really good job of holding the fort and finishing the game strong."

Keyed by 15 first-quarter points from Nick Campbell, the Double Blue put up 34 in the opening frame and built a 53-39 halftime edge. They had to weather a run from Montmorency in the third period, with the RSEQ runners up trimming the margin to 10 on four separate occasions, though they were never able to cut it back to single digits.

Sheridan connected on 41-of-72 attempts from the floor (56.9 per cent) which was actually higher than their efficiency from the free throw line, where they were 15-of-29 (51.7 per cent). Campbell finished with a game-high 28 points, while Kahleek Bakari-Whyte (27), Stefan Simpson (15), and AJ Thompson (10) were also in double figures.

The Bruins will now square off against the Holland Hurricanes (21-0 ACAA) in the semifinal (March 15, 7:30 p.m. PST / 10:30 p.m. EST), with the winner earning a spot in Saturday's national championship game.

"They're a really good rebounding team and we're gonna have to have a real group effort on the glass, especially at the defensive end," Davis said. "Hopefully we can execute a little bit better tomorrow than we did today."
