Title: Team

The 2005-2006 Bruins women's soccer team was a unique compilation of exciting and competitive players who came together to have one of the best soccer records in Bruins history. The team finished second in the always OCAA challenging West region, with a regular season record of 6 wins, 1 tie, and 1 loss. The double-blue sailed through their crossover game, beating Fleming College 2-0. In their now infamous semi-final game, Sheridan faced Durham College, the back-to-back defending provincial champions who had another undefeated regular season record in the East region. Durham went ahead in the first few minutes and scored their first goal: 1-0. It wasn't until late in the first half when Nadene Boothe went on a mazy dribble from half and smoothly slotted the ball in the corner to tie the game. With just 15 minutes to go, Durham scored to make it 2-1. The situation looked grim, but Sheridan kept pressuring, and with remaining, April Leggett- the game MVP- scored from just inside the box to tie it at 2-2. The game went into a sudden death overtime, and after just a few minutes, Sheridan came out on top when Leggett scored a penalty kick to win the game and take down the two-time defending champions, 3-2. In the final, Sheridan went up against Fanshawe, who had finished first in the West Region. It was anyones game; the Bruins employed their speed and skill but could not penetrate the net. Fanshawe was awarded a penalty kick late in the first half after a clumsy tackle, and Fanshawe scored 1-0. Sheridan brought their best game and fought extremely hard with repeated attempts to equalize the score to no avail. Sheridan proudly took home silver that day, knowing they fought their hardest with a cruel ending to a remarkable season. Sheridan is extremely proud to honour the 2005-2006 Bruins with a team entry into the Varsity Hall of Fame.
