OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (13-12, 8-10 OCAA) is looking to secure a spot in the OCAA Championship at Cambrian next weekend, but will have to earn a win on the home court of the East Division's second place team in order to do so. Canadore (15-3 OCAA) and Sheridan met earlier in the season during the Wannamaker Invitational, with the Double Blue taking a 3-0 win.

"It's a nice confidence boost knowing we've already beaten them, but at the same time that match was so long ago," head coach Scott Hunt said. "I think we've improved since then, but so has Canadore. Ultimately, whichever team executes better on Saturday is going to advance to Ontario's." 

Canadore ranks third in the OCAA with 10.6 kills per set, operating as the seventh most-efficient unit with a hitting percentage of .220. They are not as imposing from either the service line - sitting 14th in the league with 144 aces and 16th with 177 errors - or the opposite side of the net - ranking 16th with just under one block per set. 

Their attack is balanced though, with five players averaging at least 2.0 points per set, two of whom - Jess Venhuizen (3.8) and Kristine Ledger (3.3) - scoring more than 3.0. Setter Ashlyn Kadlecik led the league in both total assists (460) and assists per set (8.1), while chipping in with 80.5 points. She also ranked 13th in Ontario with 157 digs, more than any other primary setter in the league. 

The winner will take on the winner of the Humber/George Brown play-in game in the quarter-final next weekend.
