Women's soccer unveils second commit in 2019 recruiting class

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team announced today the commitment of midfielder Celina Barnard (Brantford, Ont.), making her the second addition in the 2019 recruiting class.

"Celina is a skillful and speedy winger with a powerful shot and the ability to get a cross to the back post," head coach Paul Angelini said. "Her soccer decision-making is quick and effective. Her fitness and physical play will become a staple of Sheridan's attacking play. A tireless worker, Celina will lead by example."

A product of the Paris FC club team, Barnard has also been a key contributer to the Brantford Collegiate Institute program. She recently scored in a 5-1 triumph, as her Mustangs advanced to the semifinals of the Brant County high school playoffs.

She will be counted on to help spark a Bruin attack that must replace 2018 leading goalscorer Zoe Derkach, who is off to Nipissing University.

Barnard has accepted an offer to Sheridan's Early Childhood Education program at the Trafalgar Campus in Oakville.
