Women's soccer knocked out of title contention in OCAA Championship group stage

VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (11-4-5, 2-2-3 OCAA) played sound defensively all day, but were ultimately unable to find the back of the net and did not advance from the OCAA Championship group stage, after a pair of ties and a loss.

"If you don't score, you can't win - it's as simple as that," head coach Paul Angelini said. "This can be a tough format, where you need to peak three times against three different opponents. We just didn't quite have the touch we needed to put away chances and that cost us in the end."

After opening the day with a pair of scoreless draws against Fanshawe and George Brown, the Bruins faced a must-win scenario against Humber. The Bruins remained close midway through the second half, trailing 1-0, but looked to be in trouble when Humber was awarded a penalty kick.

Savanna Wood stepped up and made the stop, however momentum was on Humber's side and they potted two quick ones shortly after to slam the door.
