Women's soccer squeezes into OCAA Championship after regional runner-up

VAUGHAN, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (11-3-3, 2-1-1 OCAA) squeezed into the OCAA Championship after posting a runner-up finish in the Group D of the OCAA Indoor Regionals with a 2-1-1 record.

"In the end, that opening victory against UTM proved to be the difference maker," head coach Paul Angelini said. "It's a reminder that in this format we need to focus on what's in front of us, and take care of business there."

The Double Blue downed their cross-town rivals 1-0 in their first contest of the day, but would suffer a 3-1 defeat to the eventual group winners from St. Clair.

A scoreless draw against Georgian put them perilously close to ending their season early, but an emphatic victory in their finale secured their spot after UTM downed Georgian.

They now move on to the OCAA Championship (March 21-22) where they will be drawn into a pool with two group winners, along with another runner-up.
