Season best point total leads women's basketball to win over UTM

BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (19-8, 13-3 OCAA) put up a season-high point total and won their fourth-straight game after an 89-58 triumph over UTM.

"When our team is efficient and getting scoring contributions from a number of people we are really tough to beat," head coach Sean Douglas. "We won the rebounding battle again and shared the ball a lot better than the last game. It was nice to see everyone get in and everyone contribute."

After leading 17-11 at the end of one, the Bruins extended their advantage to 20 at the break (44-24) thanks to a second period where they connected on 52.6 per cent of their field goals attempts, forced nine turnovers, and held UTM to 13 points on 5-of-17 shooting from the floor.

They posted a second straight 50 per cent shooting in the third quarter to lead 70-36 entering the fourth.

Sydney Charvis scored a game-high 25 on a tidy 12-of-18 shooting in only 22 minutes of action. Courtni Martin (19), Theresa Brown (17), and Liana Rose Villegas (10) were also in double figures for the Bruins.

Sheridan will wrap up their four-game home stand when they host Redeemer on Feb. 5.
