Men's volleyball announces first commitment in 2019 recruiting class

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team announced today the commitment of outside hitter Andrew Quesnelle (Barrie, Ont.), their first commit in the 2019 recruiting class.

"Andrew is a very talented player with an extremely high ceiling," head coach Frank Pento said. "His size and skill makes him a great scoring and blocking threat on the outside and I can't wait to begin working with him."

Not just an offensive threat, Quesnelle has already honed his leadership skills having been a team captain at Bear Creek Secondary School.

"It's not often that you can find a first-year player who can join a program and have an immediate impact on the court and in the change room, but we feel that is exactly what we have found in Andrew," Pento added. "He is a team-first student athlete with a desire to get better and help those around him."

Quesnelle has accepted an offer to the Architectural Technology program at the Davis Campus beginning in September, and is eager to get started with his new course and team.

"I visited other colleges and I liked Sheridan's Campus the most," he said. "Upon further research it seemed like a very good program and it felt right to me. Going into my first year, I just want to add as much value as I can to the team and help them get better."

Sheridan has 11 returning players next year, and Quesnelle will be joining an experienced group of Bruins who will help make his transition into the college game much easier.
