Men's volleyball set for conference opener at Mohawk

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (2-1) will open OCAA West play on the road this Saturday, taking a trip down the QEW to Mohawk.

"I'm really happy with our preseason," head coach Frank Pento said. "We have had a lot of reps and really progressed over the past few weeks."

The Bruins had a light preseason workload in terms of competition, but that doesn't mean they haven't been working.

It's been a grind of a practice schedule, along with some all-important team-bonding initiatives throughout.

Still, they did have some competition in the lead up to conference play, downing Seneca during Sheridan Homecoming and splitting a weekend trip to Trent over Thanksgiving weekend.

With that experience under their belts, Pento is eager to see where it takes them as the pull the curtain on the regular season.

"We are a young team, but the guys are showing a lot of belief in each other and our system," he said. "I'm very excited to get started this year. Mohawk is going to be a tough test for us. They have some big guys in the middle and some talented attackers on the outside."
