Mississauga claims Senior Boys High School Volleyball Tournament

OAKVILLE, Ont. - Mississauga Secondary defeated Garth Webb 2-0 in the championship match to claim the 2018 Sheridan Senior Boys High School Tournament.

"Our players were prepped for the size difference, net height, different ball, and the physicality of the older senior players and responded well," Mississauga head coach Dave Chee said. "Our team played well to their strengths with ball control, keeping the ball in play, and never giving up on a ball. It was good to see decent volleyball from all the teams at this preseason tournament."

Mississauga passed well, allowing them to run a good tempo offence and keep their opponents guessing on defence. Defensively, they dug a lot of balls throughout the day, keeping plays alive and earning them additional points.

Meadowvale, Joan of Arc, Holy Trinity, and Chinguacousy rounded out the six-team field.

James Lam (Mississauga) was named the tournament MVP, while Uzair Shaikh (Mississauga), Zach Peever and Brad Ganter (Garth Webb), Aaron Bis (Holy Trinity), and Samuel Williams (Joan of Arc) rounded out the rest of the tournament All-Star team.
