Men's soccer slams door on Conestoga in second half

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's soccer team (4-0-2 OCAA) scored three times in the final hour of the contest to slam the door on Conestoga and earn a 4-0 victory.

"I thought we were really good in our build up, but lacking in the finish department at times today," head coach Andrew Seuradge said. "Credit Conestoga for that, they did a really nice job tracking back and taking away our time and space once we were in the attacking third."

The Sheridan scoring was book-ended by a brace from Francis Ameyaw (30th minute and 90th minute), while Diego Poveda opened his Sheridan account with a 64th minute goal and Rahim Thorpe notched his second of the campaign six minutes later.

Chester Ashby wasn't tested often in the Bruin goal, but did everything he needed to in order to pick up his second clean sheet of the season.

A point back of the Central Division lead, the Double Blue will play the road leg of their rivalry against Humber on Oct. 3 (4:30pm).

"It's become appointment viewing any time our programs have met in recent years," Seuradge said. "Unfortunately they've gotten the better end of that more often than I would have liked. We know that in order to turn that around we need to be playing at our absolute best."
