Nick Campbell and Khaleek Bakari-Whyte named OCAA All-Stars

BARRIE, Ont. - Two members of the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (27-9, 16-5 OCAA) were recognized for their performances in 2018-19, as Nick Campbell and Khaleek Bakari-Whyte have been named OCAA All-Stars. 

"I'm very happy for both guys for this achievement," head coach Jim Flack said. "They've both had outstanding years, and the recognition is well deserved."

It marks a second straight season that Campbell has earned All-Star status, having set new career highs almost across the board, including in points (21.9), rebounds (5.9), assists (3.3), steals (1.9), and while shooting .513/.444/.707. 

Earlier this season he moved past Maurice Smith into third on Sheridan's all-time scoring list, having complied 984 points in his three seasons in Double Blue. The Brampton native was at his best when the lights were brightest, averaging 31 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting .621/.500/.928 in the two Sheridan/Humber meetings this season. 

Bakari-Whyte, meanwhile, poured in 17.6 points per contest, while connecting on a team-high 38 3-pointers, and leading the team with 2.6 steals per game. He shot .459/.404/.685 and added 4.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. 

His best performance came in the Bruins' OCAA West opener against St. Clair when he scored 39 points on 14-of-15 shooting from the floor, including 6-of-7 from deep, while adding seven boards, and three assists.
