BARRIE, Ont. - For a second straight season, the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (27-9, 16-5 OCAA) will have a familar face standing between them and the OCAA semi finals, drawing a quarter-final matchup against their divisional rivals from Fanshawe (Feb. 28, 3pm). 

"There are three seasons: pre-season, the regular season, and the post-season," head coach Jim Flack said. "We've done a lot of good things in those first two, and we're now into the post-season and March Madness; it should be fun." 

The two sides split their season series with the Bruins claiming an 87-85 victory at home in late November, while the Falcons (14-7 OCAA) defended their court with a 98-90 triumph on Feb. 13. 

Fanshawe is led by fifth-year guard Chris Parker, who averaged a team-high 23.0 points on .421/.359./.851 shooting, while connecting on 61 3-pointers, the fourth-most in the league. The rest of the attack is relatively balanced, with six other players averaging between 10.6 and 7.2 points per game. 

They rank in the top half of OCAA teams in scoring, averaging 87.0 points per game (ninth), and defence, conceding just 76.2 point per game (sixth). The Falcons were the best in the league at cleaning up the glass after getting stops, averaging 33.5 defensive boards per game, and they were second-best at limiting the damage from the 3-ball, yielding just .256 on 555 perimeter attempts. 

Fanshawe earned their spot in the OCAA Championship by virtue of a Round of 16 victory over Durham, which coincidentally was also the scenario last year.

Blue notes: This will be the 13th playoff meeting between the two, with Sheridan holding a 9-3 edge.
