HAMILTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (25-8, 14-4 OCAA) saw their six-game winning streak snapped, after a 100-99 loss to Mohawk. 

"Yes, it's an upset in some ways, but basketball is a 50/50 proposition every night. The opponent has a say in the outcome, and people forget that," head coach Jim Flack said. "Mohawk outworked and outshot us tonight; that's their half of the equation. Our half is 100% on me. Not the players. Not the assistant coaches. Our guys were poorly prepared and I've only got them playing with intelligence and intensity some of the time. Championship teams don't do those things on a part-time basis. I assembled them. I train them. I own it.

"So we put it in the rear view mirror and move on. There is no time for hand wringing."

After leading by one at the half, the Bruins fell into a 13-point deficit early in the third as Mohawk got hot from beyond the arc. They pulled level late in the frame and set up a back-and-forth final quarter where the two sides kept trading the lead. 

Following two missed free throws from Mohawk, Sheridan had one final possession to rescue themselves, but the ensuing shot was wide of the mark.

The Double Blue will hit the road again on Feb. 13 with a trip to Fanshawe.
