Big 3rd quarter powers men's basketball past UTM

BRAMPTON, Ont. - Although they were slow out of the gates, eventually the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (24-7, 13-3 OCAA) found their legs and scored 86 points over the 30 minutes to pick up a 104-78 victory over UTM.

The win featured a third-quarter performance that is likely to be among their best single periods all season, as the Double Blue scored 36 points on 12-of-17 shooting (70.6 per cent). They shared the ball with 10 assists, connected on 4-of-9 3-point attempts, and attacked the rim to produce 10 free throw attempts, eight of which they converted eight.

Nick Campbell factored into more than 60 per cent of the offence in the frame, scoring 17 while dishing out a pair of assists. He finished with a team-high 28 points, and has scored 20-plus in three straight, and in four of the Bruins' five second half contests. Romar Subban (16), Khaleek Bakari-Whyte (15), and Stefan Simpson (10) were also in double figures for Sheridan.

The Bruins will play the final of a four-game home stand on Feb. 5 when they host Redeemer.
