The 1982-83 Sheridan Men’s Volleyball Team has set the Gold Standard for Ontario Volleyball. Up until 2012, they were the only Onatario Team to ever capture National Gold in Volleyball.

During that remarkable season, the Bruins had an OCAA record of 24 wins and only 2 losses. Their overall record was 45 wins and 3 losses. That translates into an incredible 94% winning percentage.

Behind the professor-like coaching of Paul Reader and the management skills of Fred Wannamaker, the Bruins had 4 OCAA All-Stars, Jason Close, Marc Mireault, Chris Tiernay and Jeff Braid. A truly team effort at the National Tournament in Scarborough saw Sheridan defeat their opponents from Quebec in four games to bring home CCAA Gold. Jeff Braid was named tournament MVP.

The players on that squad were: John Anderson, Jason Close, Chris Tiernay, Marc Mireault, John Bell, Ted O’leary, Andre Avedissian, Glenn Spurr, Jeff Braid, Lyle Somers, Locksley Davis. Guy Dorge was the therapist and Paul Reader was the Head Coach.
