NORTH YORK, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (9-4-3, 0-1 OCAA) will enter the OCAA Indoor Championship later this month as the runner-up out of group E, falling 2-0 to Mohawk.

"We played very well, we created far more opportunities than they did [but] the difference is they put their chances away and we didn't," head coach Paul Angelini said. "In the end, it doesn't really matter how many chances you generate, it's how many you put away." 

The Double Blue had a spot in the championship sewn up even before stepping on the pitch Friday, after both Canadore and St. Lawrence Brockville dropped out of the competition.

Without the regular three-game workload, Angelini says they will have to do more to replicate game intensity in order to prepare for the championship play when it begins March 22 but says the big focus will be on being mentally prepared. 

"Most of the game is mental. At this stage, the players who are fit will still be fit and those that are unfit will still be unfit," he said. "It will be a question of the mental preparation because when you don't follow your run, that's not a fitness thing. You get caught watching the ball instead of playing the game, so that's what we'll have to work on."

Sheridan and Mohawk will join Fanshawe, George Brown, St. Clair, Durham, Seneca, Centennial, Humber, and Conestoga in the 10-team championship field, with Redeemer hosting March 22-24.
