Cross country ready for run at Nationals

Sainte-Thérèse, Que. - The Sheridan Bruins cross country teams will take their run at a Canadian title this weekend, competing at the CCAA Cross Country Running National Championship hosted by Collège Lionel-Groulx on Nov. 11. 

"Our preparation has gone well, we're all injury free," head coach Danny Webster. "The workouts keep getting faster and faster, and the guys and girls seem to be getting fitter and fitter. I'm excited to see what we can do now that we're tapering for just one race. We haven't done that yet this year, we've just been training through everything."

The men's team are coming off a bronze medal performance in the OCAA Championship two weeks ago, while the women finished seventh to qualify for the championship.

Including Sheridan, there are 21 men's teams competing. Eight from the Quebec (RSEQ): Collège Lionel-Groulx, Cégep de Sherbrooke, Cégep Garneau, Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, Cégep André-Laurendeau, Cégep de Lévis-Lauzon, Champlain College Saint-Lambert, and Champlain College — Lennoxville.

Seven from Ontario: Fanshawe College, St. Clair, Sheridan, Mohawk, St. Lawrence - Kingston, Wilfred Laurier - Brantford, and Humber

Six from Alberta (ACAC): Lethbridge College, University of Alberta - Augustana, SAIT, GPRC, Reed Deer College, along with UBC Okanagan from British Columbia. 

The women's competition will have 20 competing teams, consisting of: Collège Lionel-Groulx, Cégep de Trois-Rivières, Cégep de Sherbrooke, Cégep Garneau, Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, Collège Ahuntsic, Collège Montmorency, Cégep André-Laurendeau, Fanshawe College, Humber College, George Brown College, University of Toronto - Mississauga, St. Clair College, Sheridan, Lethbridge College, University of Alberta - Augustana, SAIT, GPRC, Reed Deer College, and UBC Okanagan

The men's race is a 8km run, at 12:30pm, while the women will run a 6km race.
