SUDBURY, Ont. - After upsetting No. 2 Canadore in the Round of 16 to reach the OCAA Championship, the Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (14-14, 9-12 OCAA) concluded their season with losses to Humber in the quarter-final (3-0) and Mohawk in the consolation semi final (3-1). 

"We struggled with our ball control against Humber and it was difficult for us to generate any offence because we were scrambling so often," head coach Scott Hunt said. "It was just one of those nights where nothing seems to go right. I was very proud of how we responded the next game against Mohawk. Consolation games aren't the easiest to get excited about but both teams battled hard and it was a great match to be a part of. Mohawk was just a little bit cleaner on their side of the net so credit to them. They're a good team and deserved the win."

In the quarter-final, Humber pulled away late in the first set to take a 1-0 lead on the strength of a 25-18 win. Big runs in the second (8-0) and third (8-1) sets helped them build an insurmountable lead. 

Tamia Cooper-Evelyn (six kills, two aces) and Darby Sewell (five kills, two aces) led the Sheridan attack, while Rachel Abrahams posted a team-high eight digs. 

The consolation semi final against Mohawk was much closer, with the Double Blue battling back after dropping the first two sets. They were unable to force a fifth set though, with Mohawk holding them off in the fourth, 25-23. 

Cooper-Evelyn scored a career-high 20 points (19 kills, one ace) while recording her fourth double-double of the season with 12 digs. Rachel Abrahams was also in double figures with 13 points (10 kills, three aces) while Jamie Budnikas and Celine Blanchette each had 11 digs.
