OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (11-11, 6-9 OCAA) snapped an eight-match conference losing skid, posting a pair of 3-0 victories over Cambrian and Boreal. 

"It was nice to get back in the win column this weekend," head coach Scott Hunt said. "It will be a good confidence boost for us as we gear up towards the playoffs. We're hoping to generate some strong momentum in these last few leagues matches." 

Against Cambrian, the Bruins were able to grind out a 25-21 first set victory, and opened the second on a 9-1 run. They seemed to be firmly in control midway through the frame - leading 16-9 - but had to hold on late with a 25-22 win.

Sheridan jumped out to a 10-4 lead early in the third and slammed the door shut with a 25-9 triumph. The Double Blue out-pointed Cambrian 47-21 and hit at .314.

Tara Aune led the way with 13 points (12 kills, one ace), while Rachel Abrahams was also in double figures with 10 points on eight kills and two aces. Tamia Cooper-Evelyn had a match-high 11 digs to go with five kills, two aces, and one block.

In the second match of the back-to-back, they held Boreal to eight points in each of the first two sets, on their way to a 25-8, 25-8, 25-10 sweep. 

The results put them a game ahead of Redeemer for sixth place in the OCAA West and a trip to the Royals' raucous gym looming on Feb. 1.
