Women's volleyball will open 2018-19 campaign on Oct. 20

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team announced today their 2018-19 league schedule, with their opening contest slated for Oct. 20 at Mohawk.

"We're excited about this season," head coach Scott Hunt said. "We have a large chunk of our core group returning and we gained some valuable experience with last year's playoff run."

A week after their opener at Mohawk, the team will make their longest road trip of the year with a Sudbury double dip against Cambrian (Oct. 27) and Boreal (Oct. 28).

Their home opener is slated for Nov. 3 against Redeemer and is the first of four contests in a month-long home stand, featuring visits from Conestoga (Nov. 17), Humber (Nov. 21), and Niagara (Nov. 25).

The Double Blue will wrap up the first half of their season with a weekend swing to southwestern Ontario for a pair against Fanshawe (Dec. 1) and St. Clair (Dec. 2).

After a break for the fall term exam period, the second half of the campaign gets underway with a trip to Humber on Jan. 10.

Playoff positioning could very well be determined during a key stretch in which the Bruins play six matches in a 20-day stretch, beginning with a home date vs. St. Clair (Jan. 13).

They will then visit Niagara (Jan. 17) before closing out the month with a trio of home contests against Fanshawe (Jan. 20), Cambrian (Jan. 26), Boreal (Jan. 27).

A trip to Redeemer on Feb. 1 wraps up the six-match stretch and opens the season's final month.

Sheridan will host Mohawk in their final home contest on Feb. 7 before wrapping the regular season with a trip to Conestoga on Feb. 9.

Cambrian will host the OCAA Championship from Feb. 22-24, while Niagara will stage the CCAA National Championship in Welland from March 6-9.
