OAKVILLE, Ont. - For a second straight year, Sheridan's J.M. Porter Athletic Centre will be the venue for 28 of the top girls high school volleyball players in the area to showcase their skills, hosting the 2018 Halton Senior Girls Volleyball All-Star Game on March 29 (6:30pm).

"We're very excited to be hosting this event," Sheridan head coach Scott Hunt said. "As the location for multiple high school championships and as the only post-secondary institution in the region, hosting this prestigious All-Star game only helps to solidify our place as a leader in the Halton volleyball community. I'm looking forward to a wonderful event." 

Hunt, along with Andrea Martin from Corpus Christi, will coach one of the teams, while Mohawk head coach Matthew Schnarr and Brittany Jackson from Nelson will lead the other.

Rosters are comprised of players from schools in the Halton Secondary School Athletic Association (HSSAA) - both Tier 1 and Tier 2 - and Halton Catholic Athletic Association (HCAA).

The champions and finalists from the HSSAA and HCAA championships were given two All-Stars apiece, while all semifinalists were awarded one.

To round out the remaining 10 spots, a committee of head coaches voted on nominations made by each team.

The contest will be a best three-out-five sets, with four sets of play guaranteed and will feature a skills challenge component, with attacking speed and setting accuracy competitions taking place after the first and second sets respectively.

There will be an additional Sheridan element to the event, as men's assistant coach Dave Chee is set to referee.
