Lady Bruins add left side to 2016-17 class

OAKVILLE, Ont. — The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team continues to grow in numbers ahead of the 2016-17 season, announcing today the commitment of left side Tamia Cooper-Evelyn.

"I found out from Scott that Sheridan has a Kinesiology program which is a four-year degree," said Cooper-Evelyn. "The campus is close to home and really wanted to get into that program. I also really like the athletic culture of Sheridan and wanted to be a part of that."

"I've been able to watch Tamia train and compete all season as she's played for a local club team, the Oakville Thunder," added head coach Scott Hunt. "Tamia is a dynamic athlete, she is quick on her feet and jumps very well. She also has a calm, composed demeanour on the floor which allows her to execute a high level in pressure situations. I'm really looking forward to having her in Double-Blue."

The Brampton native has been playing club volleyball for the past five seasons, most recently for the Oakville Thunder, which much of the season as a top five OVA team.

Her Thunder squad brought home a Tier 2 Silver medal from Nationals this season, finishing 10th overall in the country.

She is a former junior Athlete of the Year at Rick Hansen SS and was named the MVP for her senior volleyball team this season.

Cooper-Evelyn has accepted an offer to Sheridan's Bachelor of Health Sciences – Kinesiology and Health Promotion program, at the Davis Campus in Brampton.
