Lady Bruins announce first commit to 2016-17 class

OAKVILLE, Ont. — Less than a month since the conclusion of their season, the Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team are already turning their attention to next year, announcing the commitment of left side Rachel Abrahams.

"I've seen Rachel play for the past couple years and what really impressed me the most was her work ethic and her demeanour on the floor," head coach Scott Hunt said. "She has all the characteristics that we're trying to build our program around. She also has an excellent skill set which will allow her to transition into an impact player next season. She is a great fit for our program."

"Scott welcomed me here and made me feel like this was home," added Abrahams. "I came to a game and the team seemed to have a lot of potential. I've also heard a lot about Scott and that he's such a great coach, so I'm really looking forward to playing for him and having him teach me some new skills."

A native of St. Catharines, Abrahams is an eight-year veteran of the Niagara Rapids club team which finished fifth at the OVA provincial championship in 2015.

At the high school level, Abrahams has been a member of the Eden HS team that won the AA OFSAA championship in 2015, AA OFSAA bronze in 2016 and four SOSSA Championships.

Abrahams has accepted an offer to the Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership program based at the Davis Campus in Brampton.
