Lady Bruins add setter from Alberta to 2016-17 class

OAKVILLE, Ont. — The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team continue to remain active in recruiting for the 2016-17 campaign, announcing today the commitment of setter Kerri Mathews from Stony Plain, Alberta.

"My plan for post-secondary education was to look for schools around my family that lives in Ontario – that's when I first heard about Sheridan," said Mathews. "After doing some inquiries about the school and my program, I was excited to discover that the school is expanding to a university status, which caught my attention. I had also heard lots of great things about Scott and his coaching style."

"We are super excited to have Kerri join our program," added head coach Scott Hunt. "Kerri has played at a very high level in the Alberta club system and we are ecstatic to have a player of her calibre joining us. She brings a history of winning and a high volleyball IQ which will instantly improve the competitiveness and level of play in our gym. She has all the attributes to become a successful setter in the OCAA."

Mathews is currently a member of the Northern Alberta Volleyball Club. She previously won provincial silver in her 15U season and bronze in 17U season.

She has accepted an offer to the Bachelor of Health Sciences – Kinesiology and Health Promotion program at the Davis Campus in Brampton.
