Women's volleyball compete, but fall to Fanshawe

LONDON, Ont. -- The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (6-8 OCAA) won the opening set, but saw Fanshawe take the next three to hand a the Double-Blue a 3-1 defeat.

"Tonight was a great battle between two evenly matched teams. Every set was decided by 2 or 3 points which meant the margin for error was very small," head coach Scott Hunt said. "Unfortunately we have been on the losing end of most close sets lately. Fanshawe deserved the win because they were able to make plays at the end of sets when it mattered."

The Lady Bruins won the opener 25-22, and were right there in each of the next three sets, but lost 25-23, 25-23 and 25-22.

Rachel Abrahams scored a team-high 14 points (eight kills, five aces and one block) while Bailey Ratcliffe was also in double figures with 12 points (nine kills, three aces).

The team will return back to southwestern Ontario for a Sunday afternoon tilt against third ranked St. Clair (9-3) who will also host the OCAA Championship next month.
