OAKVILLE, Ont. (By Kevin John Sacdalan) -- The struggles of the Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (10-7, 4-4 OCAA) continued in their match with the St. Clair Saints, losing in straight sets.

Similar to their match with Niagara, the Bruins got out to a slow start in the opening set, falling behind early. St. Clair took a commanding lead and finished out the set, 25-16.

In the second set, the Bruins were much more competitive, holding a thin lead for half the set.

However, two consecutive aces served by St. Clair midway through the set took the lead away from the Bruins, which ended up being the turning point.

After the Bruins held a 12-10 lead, they quickly found themselves down 12-16, forcing Bruins' head coach Scott Hunt to call a timeout to regroup his team.

With momentum on St. Clair's side, they were able to finish out the set, 25-18.

They continued to pour it on in the third set, getting out to a 6-0 start. The Lady Bruins would try to battle back, but St. Clair held on as they cruised through the final set, 25-17.

"We just did not execute at a high enough level to compete with them tonight," Hunt said. "There wasn't really one aspect of our game (that we struggled with), we just had an off night tonight."

This marks the third consecutive loss for the Lady Bruins and the second in straight sets in their last three matches.

"It's just being confident in game situations and not letting the pressure of the game affect our execution," Hunt said on his team's recent struggles.

The Lady Bruins will close out 2016 with a road match with the Mohawk Mountaineers (5-3 OCAA).

"It's a measure of getting us above .500 or below .500 so it's a good opportunity to end the first half of the season on a high note and put us in a good position in the second half," Hunt said.

It's a short turnaround time, as that match will take place on Dec. 7.
