OAKVILLE, Ont. (By Kevin John Sacdalan) - The Sheridan Bruins women's volleyball team (9-4, 3-1 OCAA) winning streak was snapped at three games with their loss to the Redeemer Royals this past Saturday.

In the opening set of the match, the Bruins took an early 12-6 lead, forcing a Royals timeout. The Royals were able to respond with a run of their own, taking an 18-17 lead en route to a first set win, 25-21.

The second set was tightly contested as well, but came up in the Bruins' favour, 25-23. However, they were unable to carry over that momentum into the third set, as the Royals would re-take the lead, winning the third set 25-17.

With their backs against the wall, the Lady Bruins put together their best set of the match in the fourth, taking it convincingly, 25-15.

The fifth and final set was back and forth, but the Royals were able to hold on, 15-11, winning the match.

"It's tough to win when you can't control your first contact, and we were behind in a lot of the rallies based on our serve receive so we're going to have to improve our ball control a bit," head coach Scott Hunt said after the match.

The Lady Bruins will look to get back on the right track this Friday, as they head out onto the road to Kitchener to take on the Conestoga Condors, who are still searching for their first win in OCAA play.

They too fell to Redeemer, as well as Mohawk and Humber. The Bruins and Condors have met once at the Fanshawe tournament earlier last month with the Bruins taking the match, 3-1.
