Women's soccer eliminated from post-season in loss to St. Clair

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (8-3-0 OCAA) were knocked out of the OCAA playoffs, suffering a 2-1 loss to St. Clair.

"We got off to a rough start and never made up that difference," head coach Paul Angelini said. "Eventually we settled down and played our brand of soccer, but couldn't put the final touch on the ball needed to pull even with St. Clair."

All of the scoring was completed within 20 minutes, with St. Clair's Ryan Morneau and Cassie Nichols bookending Zoe Derkach's goal for Sheridan.

The Double Blue had a number of chances in the second half - none better than Derkach's strike from outside the area that struck the crossbar - but couldn't pull level for the second time.

St. Clair advances to the OCAA Championship, hosted by Seneca from Oct. 25-27.
