Women's soccer falls to Humber in regular season finale

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (8-2-0 OCAA) dropped points on home turf for the first time this season, falling 5-0 to Humber in their regular season finale.

"It was just one of those games. We started to get a little bit of momentum after their first goal, but the second one really took the wind out of our sails," head coach Paul Angelini said. "We're going to remain postive and we aren't going to dwell on this. Sure, we'll try to learn from a couple of our mistakes, but other than that, this game is firmly in the rearview mirror."

Humber had goals from Hayley Mackie, Nicole Lyon, Shaniece Bennett, and a brace from Zoe Longsworth.

The Bruins will remain at home for the start of the playoffs, hosting St. Clair in an OCAA Championship qualifier on Oct. 20 (2:30pm) and Angelini says the key for them is to just stick with the basics.

"We want to play Sheridan soccer," he said. "If we keep our shape, play the way we want to, and take care of our opportunities when we get them, I like our chances."

Blue notes: With the regular season now complete, Zoe Derkach is the Central Division scoring champion with 11 goals.
