OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (8-1-0 OCAA) scored in the opening minute, led 3-0 at halftime, and never looked back in a 3-1 win over UTM. 

"Of course when you score three goals in the first half you're going to say that's the better half, but as the game went on we became less and less interested in making the correct decision," head coach Paul Angelini said. 

The Double Blue got on the board just 40 seconds into the game, as Caitlin McLaughlin swung a ball off the right wing onto the penalty spot for Connie Drennan, who muscled past her defender, collected the ball, and slotted it past the keeper. Drennan would add a second goal 11 minutes later when she nodded Jessica D'Aguilar's corner kick over several UTM defenders to find the back of the net.

Zoe Derkach rounded out the Sheridan scoring three minutes from halftime, turning her defender at the top of the box and blasting a shot to the top left corner. That goal put her on 11 for the season, pulling her level with Viktoria Vanzanten (2016) and Michaela Krampert (2014) for the single-season team record.

After a busy stretch that saw them play four times in 11 days, the Bruins now have a full week until their next game, closing out the regular season at home against Humber.

They still have a chance to claim the Central Division crown, but face an uphill climb, needing Humber to drop points prior to their meeting or defeat a team that has yet to concede through seven games by at least a three-goal margin.
