Late goal gives women's soccer win over UTM

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - A goal from Zoe Derkach in the 81st minute broke a scoreless stalemate, and powered the Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (5-0-0 OCAA) to a 1-0 victory over UTM.

After getting a step on her defender, Derkach caught UTM keeper Nida Zaidi sneaking off her line ever so slightly, and managed to loft a shot over top of her for the game's only tally.

Sheridan put 12 attempts on target, while Savanna Wood kept the sheet clean for the Bruins by turning aside four UTM shots.

The Double Blue hit the midway point with a perfect 5-0 record, having scored 15 and conceded three. Of their five remaining games, four will be played on Sheridan turf, beginning with a visit from Conestoga during Homecoming on Sept. 29 (1:30pm).

Their lone remaining road game is a trip to Humber on Oct. 3.
