Women's soccer settle for draw against Humber in home finale

OAKVILLE, Ont. -- The Sheridan Bruins women's soccer team (4-2-3 OCAA) ended up settling for a 2-2 draw against Humber in their regular season home finale.

"We started off a bit slow, but then got into the game. We seemed to go in ebbs and flows," head coach Paul Angelini said. "When we were flowing, we were playing very well and moving the ball crisply and they had moments of doing the same. Both teams asked could have asked for a win, but this is probably a fair result."

Humber opened the scoring in the 34th minute, but saw the Double-Blue equalize five minutes later on a Nadia Hinds goal.

Kendra Challis gave the Lady Bruins a 2-1 lead in the 74th minute after converting from the penalty spot, but Humber clawed back nine minutes later.

The club is unable to move up or down in the standings and will host an OCAA Championship qualifier on October 22, but has one game remaining in the regular season when they travel to UTM on October 18.

Angelini says that with no possible movement in their playoff positioning, the key is to keep things moving in the right direction before elimination games begin.

"That's always tough to do, because at this point if you can, you want to rest some people with some small injuries," he said. "So we'll try to build some momentum on Tuesday. We want to begin the playoff run tough, healthy and hopefully that allows us to peak at the right time."
