Killoran and Hager named OCAA All-Stars

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The second season of OCAA women's rugby playing a sevens format officially came to a close Saturday, and though the Sheridan Bruins women's rugby team (4-11-1 OCAA) did not participate in the Championship event, they did have a pair of players recognized, as Dara Killoran and Carah Hager were named OCAA All-Stars.

Killoran - a first year centre from Coburg - led the team and was eighth in league scoring.

She touched the ball down nine times while connecting on 13 converts for 71 points.

Hager - a second year winger from Brantford - scored five tries in 15 matches.

That gives her 10 career tries, after also posting five in her freshman campaign last year.

While they still finished second from the bottom in the standings, the Bruins showed marked improvement in a league that nearly doubled it's competition, growing from five to nine teams.

Durham is set to join next season, rounding the competition to an even 10 teams.

A year ago, the Double-Blue scored 119 points in 16 games - an average of 7.4 per contest - but increased to 183 points this season, improving their average total by exactly four points per game.
