Women's rugby cap inaugural sevens season with fourth place finish

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's rugby team closed out the inaugural OCAA sevens season with a fourth place finish, after dropping the bronze medal game to Seneca 26-12.

Candice Low Kum got the Bruins on the board first, but Seneca was able to answer back right away with a Cable try.

Zosia Ruchlewicz scored to give the Sting a 14-7 advantage at the half and also scored a minute into the second half to extend the lead to 21-7.

A Taylor Quigley try for Sheridan would narrow the gap to 21-12, but it was as close as the Bruins would get, with Sarah Givens scoring in the final minute for Seneca to provide the 26-12 score.

In their first match-up of the day against Humber in the semi final, the Double-Blue fell 52-0 to the eventual champions.

Quigley was named a tournament all-star for the Bruins, in addition to being named a league all-star for the season.

Candice Low Kum was also named a league all-star for Sheridan.
