LAVAL, Que. - Although it wasn't entirely reflected in the results, the Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team (2-2) had a successful trip through the Montreal area, returning with one win and two losses.

"We showed a lot of composure and competitiveness over the weekend," head coach Willie Delas said. "The talent pool in Quebec is always quite deep, so we feel good about how we performed. I would have liked to have faired better on the scoreboard, but we were in every ball game, and we managed to do a lot of growing this weekend. That sets us up well for when the regular season begins later this month."

They opened with a trip to Vanier and got off to a good start, with pressure defence forcing 15 turnovers in the first half.

Sheridan struggled to close out on shooters in the second half though and ultimately couldn't keep pace, suffering a 66-59 defeat.

They bounced back in a physical affair with Saint-Jean, attacking the basket and emerging with a 67-60 triumph, in a game that was dead-locked at 53 entering the final frame.

In their final game of the weekend they were level at the half against Montmorency (32-32), but struggled offensively in the second half, and suffered a 67-56 setback.

The Double-Blue have one more pre-season tune-up, hosting Centennial on Oct. 14 (5pm), before opening OCAA play at home against Fanshawe on Oct. 26 (6pm).
