Women's basketball add Father Goetz pair

BRAMPTON, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins women's basketball team announced today the commitment of two more players in their 2017-18 recruiting class, with guards Audrey Carin and Gina Mitchell coming on board.

Carin and Mitchell played together not only for Father Michael Goetz Secondary School, but also the Mississauga Basketball Academy and their familiarity with one another is something head coach Willie Delas is excited about.

"We're very happy having Audrey and Gina added to our lineup," he said. "They are both very talented, but the fact that they have played together will really help give us a good start in camp to develop some overall team chemistry."

During their time at Father Goetz, they were part of the squad that advance to AAAA OFSAA after a silver medal performance in the ROPSSAA.

Carin, a 5'3" guard originally from Brampton, has been accepted into the Pre-Health program at the Davis Campus.

"Audrey is a speedy guard who is an excellent passer and tenacious defender on the ball," assistant coach Sean Douglas said. "She will really help increase the pace of our offence and create steals and deflections on the defensive end with her activity level."

Mitchell, a 5'7" guard, has been accepted into the Business Human Resources program at the Hazel McCallion Campus in Mississauga.

"Gina brings toughness and three-point shooting ability to the Bruins for this upcoming season, two areas where our team was lacking this past season," Douglas said. "She will be called upon this year to keep zone defences honest with her shooting ability and to score off penetration as well. Her ability to be gritty on defence and help our bigs in the rebounding category makes her a great addition to this program."
