Second place team finish highlights opening cross country meet

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - In the first tune-up for the Sheridan Bruins cross country teams, Cole Bond finished third to lift the men's team into a second place finish behind Fanshawe and ahead of Humber, in a meet hosted by Fleming.

Bond's run of 30:24 was 24 seconds off the pace set by St. Lawrence's Andrew Brown and was eight seconds behind Fanshawe's Jordan Kadlecik.

The men's team posted 34 points, 20 clear of Humber for second place.

In addition to Bond's third place result, the Bruins also had Matthew Reeve (9th), Brendan Saunders (12th), and Garrett Murphy (15th) scoring points.

Andrew Convery (16th), Alex Ball (26th), Jaskarat Aujula (31st), Aaron Damaran (44th), and Tristan Wong (45th) rounded out the Sheridan placement.

On the women's side, the Bruins posted a fifth place team finish, with Erin Kinninmont (13th), Marla Brown (16th), Monique Parlevliet (26th), Lexi Pakenham-Troth (32nd), Alexandra D'Olivera (34th), Amanda Zimmerman (39th) and Isabell Catalli (40th) rounding out the results.

Although the Double-Blue did not run in the first invitional meet of the season last week at Fanshawe, they have three more races before the OCAA Championship will see them travel to London.

They have races at Seneca (Sept. 30), Centennial (Oct. 14) and Brock (Oct. 21) before the OCAA Championship on Oct. 28 at Fanshawe.
