OAKVILLE, Ont. - The up and down season for the Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (5-4, 3-3 OCAA) continued with a 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-22) loss to Humber.
"Tonight was a tough loss. Once again we had a slow start which made it very difficult to try and come back and win this match," head coach Frank Pento said. "I thought we played great in sets two and three - we played our style of volleyball which is tough serving and great defence. When you're playing a really good team, your goal is to get to 20-20 and then whoever executes better will win the set. Today in sets two and three, Humber out-executed us."
Aside from the first set - where Humber raced out to a big lead early - the narrative was similar the rest of the way, with the Bruins staying competitive throughout, but being unable to match the level once it reached the 20s.
Sheridan finds itself in a four-way tie for fourth in the OCAA West and has a relatively quick turnaround when they host one of the the squads they are level with (Niagara) on Nov. 25. Pento says the club has already moved on from this result and is beginning their preparation for the next one.
"We are going to watch some video, and correct some of our errors," he said. "We've already put this one behind us and we're looking forward to the next game. Niagara is going to be another tough test, and I know we are ready to bounce back."
