OAKVILLE, Ont. - It had been two weeks since the Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (5-3, 3-2 OCAA) had seen game action and they made good use of the time off, rebounding after dropping the opening set to down Conestoga 3-1 (18-25, 25-16, 25-21, 25-23).

"We got off to another slow start but we were able to pull it together in sets two, three and four to get the win," head coach Frank Pento said. "A great performance by Andrew Cianci on the right side, probably the best of his career here at Sheridan so far. We moved some things around in preparation for this game, and the guys responded really well. It was a great team win. Offensively Eric (Chien) spread the ball well which freed up our outside hitters.

"It was a coming out party for our middles as we were finally able to get them involved. It was nice to welcome back Parvir Jhajj as he and Liam Butchereit were big contributors on the left side. Rookie Libero Nathan Kociancic did a great job stabilizing our passing game."

After the two sides split the opening sets, the Bruins started to take control late in the third. Although Conestoga had led throughout much of the frame, the Double Blue closed on an 11-6 run to claim a 25-21 win. In the fifth, Sheridan was in front most of the way and held off a late Conestoga rally to close out the match. 

The Bruins hit at .442 with 47 kills and had four players hit double figures. Jhajj led the way with a team-high 18 points (15 kills, two aces, one block), followed by Butchereit (12 kills, four aces), Cianci (11 kills, two aces, two blocks), and Marcus Ahmadzai (seven kills, two blocks, one ace). 

The offensive output marked several season highs for the Double Blue, including hitting percentage, kills, aces (11), and total offence (64). Sheridan will play the third of their four-game home stand when they host Humber (5-0) on Nov. 21 (8pm).
