Men's volleyball announce first commit in 2017 class

OAKVILLE, Ont. - As they prepare for their biggest contest of the season thus far, the Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team already have an eye towards next year, announcing today the commitment of outside hitter Andrew Cianci (Mississauga, St. Francis Xavier).

"Getting Andrew is a huge pickup for our program. He is a big, strong and experienced player, who can play multiple positions," head coach Frank Pento said. "With his background at the club level with Pakmen and his skillset, he has the potential to come into this league in his first year and be a big contributor for our team."

"I am looking forward to a new start. My expectations are very high as I know the OCAA and CCAA are great, competitive leagues," added Cianci. "I'm also looking forward to building a bond with all of my new teammates and I expect next year to be a very fun year with the new guys. Sheridan is the place for me, and I know we are going to do big things next season."

Cianci's Pakmen squad won silver at the national championship last year and are currently the top ranked team in Ontario.

A dynamic offensive threat, the 6'5" Cianci is looking to bring that as well as a positive attitude with him to the Double-Blue.

"When on the court I'm a strong believer that there should only be positive energy. No matter the situation, the energy should never turn negative, and a teammate should never feel unsupported," he said. "So I feel like I can bring that concept to the team and I also I feel like I am a very strong attacker and I believe I can bring that to the team as well."
