Bruins continue adding to 2016-17 class

OAKVILLE, Ont. — The Sheridan Bruins men's volleyball team (21-10, 12-5 OCAA) continue to add to their 2016-17 roster, announcing the commitment of middle Mauritzio White.

"I am very excited to be a Bruin," said White. "I know [head coach] Frank [Pento] wants his student-athletes to compete and work hard, and that's what I plan on doing. Whether I am a starter, or coming off the bench, I will do whatever it takes to help the team win."

"Mauritzio is extremely athletic and learns very quickly," added Pento. "Although he only picked up volleyball three years ago in high school, he quickly became his team's most effective attacker and blocker. At 6'2″ he is what you would call an undersized middle, but his jumping ability makes up for what he lacks in height. On top of his athletic abilities, Mauritzio has a great attitude and is a real 'team-first' kind of guy. I know I will never have an issue with his work ethic and compete level."

White has been accepted to the Electrical Techniques program based at the Skills Training Centre in Oakville.

The relationship between coach and player is a big reason that White will be suiting up in Double-Blue next season.

"I have a lot of trust in him and I would not want to play for anyone else," said White of Pento. "He taught me everything I know about the game."
