Men's soccer drops semifinal on penalties

VAUGHAN, Ont. - It took 10 rounds of shooters - the final five under sudden-death conditions - but ultimately the Sheridan Bruins men's soccer team (12-3-6, 4-2-3 OCAA) came up just short in the OCAA semifinal, dropping a 2-1 (9-8) decision to Fanshawe.

"I'm proud of the effort, for sure," head coach Andrew Seuradge said. "We never panicked when we went down a goal late in the first half, and I thought we dictated play throughout much of the game. When you get to penalties you already know it could easily go either way. Today, it didn't go ours."

Following the loss, Sheridan dropped into the bronze medal game and fell 2-0 to UTM, who claimed third place for a second-straight year.

The Bruins advanced to the medal round as the second-ranked team in their pool on day one, earning draws against Mohawk (2-2) and UTM (3-3), before claiming a 4-2 victory against Conestoga in their final game to lock up a spot.
