OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's soccer team (6-5 OCAA) scored twice in the opening seven minutes and piled on four more goals, defeating Centennial 6-2 to earn a spot in the OCAA Championship tournament. 

"I think that intensity to start the game is something we have been lacking," head coach Andrew Seuradge said. "Often we look a little lackadaisical to start, but we definitely had some fire to start this game and that allowed us to play with a lot more confidence."

Mathew Santos got the Bruins on the board in the second minute, converting from the spot after Francis Ameyaw was hauled down in the area. 

Reshaun Walkes doubled the Sheridan advantage in the seventh minute, running on to a long ball from Santos, stepping around the oncoming keeper, and tapping it into the open net. 

Anthony Wright added a third Bruin tally in the 22nd minute, before Walkes' second of the game a minute later made it 4-0. 

Centennial made it three goals in a four minute span with their first marker in the 25th minute, where the scoreline would remain until after the hour mark.

In the 65th (Malcolm Whyte) and 66th (Francis Amewyaw) minutes, the Double-Blue scored back-to-back goals once again, before Centennial closed the score sheet in the 83rd minute. 

The Bruins will now travel to Peterborough for the OCAA Championship, with their quarter-final opponent yet to be determined. 

Although pleased with the outcome and the scoring bursts, Seuradge still believes his team has better in them.

"I think this was our best performance of the season so far, but it still wasn't a complete, 90-minute effort from us," he said. "If we want to reach our goals a week from now, we need to start putting together some full-game performances."
