Men's rugby to host St. Lawrence in quarter-final showdown

OAKVILLE, Ont. - Nearly a year after they met in an epic OCAA Championship game, the Sheridan Bruins men's rugby team (4-2 OCAA) and St. Lawrence (4-2) will square off on the Sheridan Stadium turf again, this time in the OCAA quarter-final (Oct. 27, 12pm).

"The re-match is a nice subplot, but the reality is that it's a new season and both of our teams are much different than last year," head coach Rick Bria said. "Maybe they have a little juice based on that result, but we're just as fired up to keep our season alive."

St. Lawrence opened the season with a 41-29 win over the eventual East Division champions from Durham, but dropped the return match 29-23.

They picked up a pair of wins against Fleming, blanked Loyalist, and fell to Algonquin to round out their regular season.

Offensively they are led by D'Shawn Bowen who scored seven tries, while booting five converts, and a penalty kick.

The Vikings averaged 28.3 points per game, while allowing 21.5.
