Men's rugby set to defend OCAA title beginning Sept. 12

OAKVILLE, Ont. - The Sheridan Bruins men's rugby team announced today their 2018 schedule and will begin defence of their OCAA Championship on home turf against Conestoga on Sept. 12.

"We're looking forward to the challenge this season will bring," head coach Rick Bria said. "It was a long climb for us to build our program to the point that we were title contenders. We know that it will take just as much work - if not more - to stay at the level we want, and that's to be competing for championships every year."

The schedule is neatly broken up into three games in September and three games in October.

Sheridan will open against Conestoga on Sept. 12 before travelling to Mohawk 10 days later on Sept. 22.

The Bruins will host Seneca during Sheridan Homecoming on Sept. 29 and have a quick turn around, travelling to face their rivals from Georgian on Oct. 4.

A trip to Seneca on Oct. 11 and the first home edition of the Battle of the Bears rivalry game against Georgian on Oct. 20 wraps up the regular season.

Last season the Double Blue posted a 5-1 regular season record, on their way to claiming the OCAA title on home soil in thrilling fashion
