PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - A 79th minute penalty kick from Jad Hamade made all the difference, as the Sheridan Bruins men's rugby team (7-1 OCAA) held on to defeat Fleming 22-19 in the OCAA semi final. 

A Matt DeCosta try got the Double-Blue on the board in the 16th minute, giving Sheridan a 5-0 lead. 

Five minutes later, Andrew Zandona broke off a long run from just inside the half and got it over the line, but had it held before it could be touched down. 

On the ensuing scrum from the five-metre mark, Owen Schimpl swung the ball out wide to DeCosta who was able to secure the major. After Hamade's conversion kick was good, the Bruin lead was up to 12-0.

They would go into the interval up 19-0, as JP Munro added a try - breaking free around the 40 metre mark before lunging to touch it down - in the 35th minute. 

Tristian Hylton received a yellow card just prior to the half, and that proved critical as Fleming was able to quickly march into Sheridan territory and saw Duncan White score a try just three minutes into the second half. 

Fleming continued to apply furious pressure and just after the hour mark put another try on the board, trimming the margin to seven, with the Bruins leading 19-12. 

Sheridan was able to steady themselves after this, and gained significant ground into Fleming territory. 

Although it didn't pay immediate dividends in the form of more points on the board, it did allow the Double-Blue to chew up a considerable amount of clock, and would ultimately supply the three points that lifted them to victory.

A Fleming penalty gave Sheridan an opportunity to kick for points from 35 metres in the 79th minute, and Hamade's boot was true for a third time on the day.

Fleming added a try on the game's final play, but the Bruin advantage was too large to overcome.

The victory propels the Double-Blue into the OCAA Championship game, which they will host (Nov. 12, 12pm), after St. Lawrence de-throned the reigning champions from Georgian.
