Men's rugby falls to Georgian in season opener

BARRIE, Ont. -- The Sheridan Bruins men's rugby team (0-1 OCAA) showed many positives while also pinpointing a few key areas for improvement, as they dropped their season opener to Georgian 44-8.

"I was very pleased at the play of some of our younger players as they played like veterans," head coach Carlos Moniz said. "We had a very solid game from eight of our players and any one of them could have been named Man of The Match for us. Unfortunately our tackling let us down in many instances but this is something we can work on. We played our entire allotment of 23 players and it was the first OCAA game for 13 of them. Overall, a lot of positives and a lot to work on as well."

Jackson Mills scored all eight points for the Bruins, converting a first half penalty kick and adding a try in the second half.

The Double-Blue will host Seneca in their home opener on Sunday, September 18 at 12pm.
