BRAMPTON, Ont. - Despite a 10-day layoff since their last game action, the Sheridan Bruins men's basketball team (23-7, 12-3 OCAA) didn't seem to have too much rust to shake off, starting quickly and wrestling a physical contest away from Niagara in the final period to earn a 103-95 victory. 

The contest featured 13 ties and four lead changes, with the home side re-claiming the advantage in the fourth quarter on the strength of an 11-2 run, capped by a Roman Subban 3-ball that put them up 91-84 with 5:39 to play. 

Niagara replied with a 6-0 run of their own to trim the margin to four, but that would be as close as they would get. 

Sheridan scored 32 first-quarter points on 12-of-20 shooting from the floor (60 per cent) and 8-of-11 from the free throw line (72.7 per cent) to lead 32-23 after one. The visitors out-scored the Double Blue in each of the next two quarters - 27-20 in the second and 28-23 in the third - as Sheridan led 52-50 at the half, while Niagara was up 75-75 entering the final frame.

Nick Campbell poured in a team-high 24 points and has now hit double digits in all but on the 15 OCAA West regular season games, while scoring 20+ in 11 of those. Jemol Edwards led a contingent of five other Bruins to hit double figures with 22, followed by Tremaine Anderson (14 points, 13 rebounds), Keenan Danso-Dapaah (14 points), Kahleek Bakari-Whyte (14 points), and Romar Subban (12 points). 

The Bruins will host UTM on Feb. 2 (6pm) during the annual Sheridan Cup Boys High School Basketball Tournament. 

Blue notes: Edwards has been relentless in attacking the rim this season, and currently leads the OCAA in free throw attempts with 143 (9.5 per game). Those numbers are even more pronounced in the two match-ups with Niagara, racking up 41 trips to the charity stripe.
